About Meridith Evans: Born in Urbana,
Ohio, Meridith has been performing since the age of 5. Growing up, she has
participated in many talent shows, telethons, fund raisers and even worked in
theater. Raised in church she has a strong gospel background and initially
that is where her music career began.
In 1994 she had the opportunity of being
the opening act at a gospel concert with gospel headliner "Commissioned" and
shared billing with John Stephens now known as John Legend. Within the same
year she also shared the stage with gospel greats, Yolanda Adams, Fred Hammond,
Anointed and Donnie McClurkin.
In 1999 she moved to Columbus, Ohio with
aspirations of breaking into the local music scene. She became one of the
original members of the local group, Controversy and performed with them for 3
years. She left the band in 2001 seeking to become more of a lead vocalist
and forming her own musical identity. In the interim she has done work other
local groups like Shucking Bubba Deluxe, Jonzei, 5days Out and Groove Daddy.
She then became the lead singer of the group Bryton Drive in 2001 and has been
with until 2005.
She has now taken control of her career
and actively performs with a great keyboard player, composer, producer, Geoff
Cameron. They have teamed up to form a duo and have maintained a very busy
schedule over the past year. In addition to the duo, she has now formed a 5
piece band "Luxury Brown" and has hand picked some of the finest
local musicians to accompany her.
In addition to local performances, she
studied piano for 7 years and is working on original music to complete a CD with
local producer, Geoff Cameron. Over the past year, co-writing with Geoff, they
had an original song appear under the top 10 in the country for several weeks
under Broadjam.com titled "I Wonder U". She
also appears on a recent compilation CD with Houston's own "Last Soul
Descendents" on a song she co-wrote with them titled "Do You Want
Me".
Personal
Note:
Over the past five years, I have had
other musicians tell me what I can't do and my ideas that wouldn't work.
Branching out on my own and taking control of my career was the best thing I
could possibly do for myself. I am a firm believer that if you keep striving
for your dreams, be careful what you wish for! If you believe in what you are
doing and you have vision, don't ever let anyone discourage you from your
dreams. I am my own master and I control my own destiny! I am excited to see where this next year takes me.
